Policy on the Use of Cookies and Other Similar Technologies
This policy concerns the cookies and other similar technologies used, as the case may be, on the website www.mplegis.com (the “website”) and in the applications operated by Markova & Panchovska Law Office, consisting of the partners Yordanka Ivanova Panchovska, attorney-at-law at the Sofia Bar Association, personal number 1000492610, and Stanislava Petrova Dimova-Markova, attorney-at-law at the Plovdiv Bar Association, personal number 1000112940 (the “Law Office” or the “Controller”).
Cookies are used for the following purposes:
- the functioning and improvement of the website,
- analysis of the behaviour of visitors to the website,
- advertising.
This policy is supplemented by the Personal Data Privacy Policy, which you can read here and which describes in detail the personal data collected by the Controller, the purposes for which the Controller uses personal data, your rights in relation to the protection of personal data, the obligations of the Controller and all other necessary information, as required by Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation).
What cookies are
Cookies are computer data, more specifically text files, sent by the server and stored on the user’s terminal device (usually on the hard drive of a computer or on a mobile device). These files process information which the website may need in order to adapt to the way the user uses the website and to collect statistical information about the use of the website. Cookies are entirely “passive” files – they contain no software programs, viruses or spyware, and have no access to the information on the user’s hardware.
How cookies are used
Cookies are carried in the HTTP protocol used to connect the web server with the browser. Each such file consists of a key defining the name of the values, the values themselves and a lifetime, after which the browser must remove the cookie. Cookies are used to adjust web content to the user’s preferences and to increase the usability and personalisation of website content.
Typical examples of the importance of cookies include gathering data on online privacy preferences, creating content and services tailored to the specific preferences of the user, access adapted to the user’s interests, remembering passwords, remembering child-protection filters for internet content, and measuring, optimising and adapting analytics features in order to improve services for the benefit of users.
Types of cookies
There are two standard types of cookies – “session” and “persistent”. The former are temporary files which remain on the user’s device until the user leaves the website or closes the software (web browser). Persistent files remain on the user’s device for the time specified in the parameters of the cookie files or until they are manually deleted by the user.
Privacy policy and use of cookies
When the user uses the website www.mplegis.com, the Controller uses cookies to identify the browser or the user’s device. Cookies collect various types of information which, as a rule, does not constitute personal data (it does not allow the user to be identified). Some data, depending on its content and use, may be linked to a particular person and be regarded as personal data. The Personal Data Privacy Policy, available on the Controller’s website in the “Privacy Policy” section, also applies to all such personal data.
Profiling
By using cookie technology, the Controller may collect information about the preferences of the users of the website (for example, the number of visits to the website, the information viewed, etc.). By analysing the online behaviour of users, the Controller can better understand their preferences, interests and expectations and adapt the website to their needs and interests. In this way, as a result of the use of cookies, the Controller will be able to offer each visitor to the website a personalised service fully in line with that visitor’s personal preferences.
Access to information about users’ activity on the internet through the use of cookies will also help the Controller to carry out anonymous statistical analyses which exclude identification of the user.
The information collected and stored in cookies may be kept after the browser session has been deleted, which allows it, for example, to be used on the user’s subsequent visits.
Retargeting
On the basis of cookies, the Controller may use technology which allows it to reach users who have previously visited the website by addressing content to them through other websites they visit. The Controller may do so, again, in order to serve each visitor to the website better, in line with the visitor’s personal interests, and to make it easier for the user to use different websites.
Third-party cookies and identical technologies
The cookies used by the Controller are aimed primarily at optimising the services provided to users when they use the website. In addition, as a result of the use of the website, the browser or other software installed on the user’s device may receive cookies from third parties. The third parties to which the Controller provides personal data, or which may obtain access to the user’s personal data as a result of the user’s access to and use of the website, are listed in the Personal Data Privacy Policy available on the website.
The website also contains links to other sites or embedded content from other sites, for example Google and other online platforms. When you visit those sites or open their content, cookies from those websites may be stored on your terminal device. Those cookies are third-party cookies and the Controller has no control over how they are generated and managed. You can look for information about them and about how to manage them on the websites of the respective third parties.
Managing the use of cookies
All browsers allow cookies to be managed from a dedicated folder of the browser used by the user. Every user may block the receipt of cookies, delete all or some of them, or set preferred settings for the use of cookies before visiting the website. However, every user should bear in mind that deleting or blocking cookies may make it impossible for that user to use the website with its full functionality.
Disabling or blocking cookies
Controlling, disabling or blocking cookies is managed through the settings of the browser used by the user. However, every user should bear in mind that a complete ban on the use of all cookies may affect the functional performance of the website, its efficiency and access to certain information. Deactivating cookies will prevent the user from accessing some of the most popular and widely used sites, which every user should bear in mind when browsing the web. In addition, refusing to accept cookies does not mean that the user will no longer receive or see online advertisements.
All cookies used on the website are erased/deleted automatically after a certain period of time – up to 365 days, depending on the purpose of the particular cookie.
The Controller will not use cookies in any way other than those set out in this Policy on the Use of Cookies.
This Policy on the Use of Cookies and Other Similar Technologies was adopted on 7 October 2026 and is valid until it is repealed or amended by publication of such repeal or amendment on the website www.mplegis.com.
